Solicitor David Pascoe Endorses Sam Richardson for Sheriff

First Circuit Solicitor David Pascoe, an elected Democrat, endorsed Republican Sam Richardson in the upcoming general election for Dorchester County Sheriff.

Richardson, the current chief deputy of the sheriff’s office, is running to replace retiring Sheriff L.C. Knight. Richardson won the Republican primary in June with a three-to-one margin.

“There is no law enforcement officer I trust more than Sam Richardson in my 31 years as a prosecutor. I’ve known him for most of my career and respect him as a man of his word, said Pascoe.

“IWhen Sam was my chief investigator, he and I would go to schools together in every county of the First Circuit to talk to students about doing the right thing. His message resonated with them because of his leadership skills, demeanor, and background. In positions like Sheriff, Solicitor, or Clerk of Court, it’s crucial to look beyond political labels and elect people who best serve our judicial system. For this reason, I support my friend Sam Richardson as our Dorchester County Sheriff,” Pascoe added.

Richardson has more than 30 years of experience as a law enforcement professional, including working as the chief investigator for the Solicitor’s office in both Republican and Democrat administrations. For the past 16 years, he has served as the chief deputy for the Dorchester County Sheriff’s office for the retiring Knight. Additionally, Richardson is a retired lieutenant colonel in the United States Army Reserve.
